Really, really pleased to see this site!

It’s much needed and I’ve been pondering something similar myself but been put off due to the expertise, time and sheer effort I know it involves.

Looking forward to being a regular visitor!

Just wanted to leave a wee note saying how much I enjoy your site.
I feel we’ve made a huge leap in how we analyse our club and performances, and how we express that to each other in the last 2 years, and a site like this is vastly under-rated.

I see Zonal Marking is in your side links. If you get close to emulating that site or style or in depth analysis (and you’re well on your way), then the online Celtic community will be far better off.

My hats off to you, and look forward to reading more as the season goes on.

Thanks very much! Hope to keep it up over the season. A link can be added to your site as well if you wish.

    Hi –

the more I look at this site, the more i realise how “important” it is that we have a site like this for Celtic. I was always aware of ZonalMarking, and i had come across the Arsenal Column and was a bit jealous. however, I have now found another site –

    http://www.arsepeak.com

it seems that arsenal afficiandos have not one but 2 sites on tactics/scouting etc etc. Perhaps youz could take a look and add it as a link – it looks quite good (and beieve me – i dislike english football!)

Once again – well done on a truly great site.

This is a terrific site – enlightening and informative. If you’d asked me what a ‘false 9’ was, I’d have said some kind of spray-on tan, but not now – all thanks to Tictical Analysis!

    Top work, sir!

Haha, thanks. Did you click on the link about false 9’s provided in the article? Gives a bit more info about the position’s history and its strengths/weaknesses. Worth a read if you have the time.

This site is still at the ‘teething stage’ at the moment but the plan is to have analysis of all games throughout the season.

    Hi

I posted a comment yesterday on your tactical analysis of the recent Hearts game. I notice that you have not put it up? May I ask the reason?

    Hail, Hail.

    Paks.

Simply because I hadn’t got round to checking the comments yet! I’ll try to be quicker in future.

    Hi Tictacs88

What did you think of Craig Levein’s 4-6-0 formation. I read somewhere this morning that it had been used before with some success? Would make a good article in this Celtic news free week.

It definitely would make an interesting article but the plan was to publish one on Strachan’s Celtic in this free week. If there’s time, I’ll do a Scotland one too. I assume that they will employ something similar against Spain meaning there could be a decent amount of material to work with so may also consider delaying the Strachan article (it’s likely to be quite large so want to make sure it’s good) in favour of a Levein one.

Just for the record, I think Levein was totally justified in his selection and the media were too harsh. Scotland haven’t even scored a goal away from home for what, 6 or 7 matches? But for switching off when defending one corner they almost got a valuable and well-earned point.

I look forward to reading both.

I think that zonalmarking are going to be doing a report on the Spain game. Lookout for it.

      • October 14, 2010 3:01 pm

        here it is – http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/10/14/scotland-2-3-spain-tactics/

there’s a slight delay to the Strachan article but this is because it will be bigger than the usual. It’s taking longer to gather necessary info than anticipated but hopefully it will have more to it than the usual match reports.

Just had a look at zonalmarking and seen the goals for the first time. Quite an interesting site although they don’t go into much detail on tactics.

        Thanks for the link.

Haven’t noticed the site coming up on News Now? Would be something worth investigating as it would give you more exposure and a larger readership.

It’s a good idea and something I will definitely look into.

Just a little word on the Levein and Strachan articles – not enough footage of the Scotland Czech game was available to make a detailed analysis of the tactics on display.
The Strachan article is going to be quite large because there is a lot of info being gathered, so that is why it is taking a while to be published.
